Reading Reflection No. 2
1.
When reading How to almost fail at everything and still win big by Scott Adams, I learned that putting yourself first is a very important point in being successful in life. Also looking out for your economics is an essential point as well in living a successful.
2.
The book had many things relating to ENT 3003. To start off, the author Scott Adams himself is a big entrepreneur which is basically what the class teaches us to be. His advice is not exactly what you would expect from a very successful entrepreneur but it definitely opens your eyes to important things like looking at the bigger picture than being close minded and just wanting to have one goal and make money.
3.
My exercise would involve making a poster or a drawing of the overall structure of the product/companies we spent so much time creating. This would help customers see the system of the product and help campaign for the company you built.
4.
What I learned from this book is that goals and systems are different in the way that a goal is something temporary and close-minded people stick to and a system is something you practice daily on. For example, a goal would be running a four hour marathon while a system would be exercising daily. These points made me have that “aha” moment because it is something that I’ve never thought about.
I read the same book! I definitely agree with your post and all the points you have made about the book. I think your "aha" moments were very key points in the novel. Learning the difference between a goal and a system could be very beneficial to someone striving for excellence. I also agree that even though Adams did not give the most cookie cutter entrepreneurship advice, it definitely gave a different perspective. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHey Laura, I read the same book. I thought the same thing about what relates to this ENT class, and the whole book does because Scott Adams is literally the definition of an entrepreneur. The way we look at failure is what is going to determine our fate. Through all of his failures, he always believed in himself, and ultimately was able to become a very successful comic strip author.
