Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
1. Many people have different opinions about Steve Jobs. What stuck out to me the most would be his resilience and way of bouncing back into business even when he was going through his own problems. He was able to go back to Apple after his second run and dealt with problems in the company due to their mediocre sales (in his opinion). He able to take out products that he saw were not good enough for the company. The thing I most admire about Steve Job is his ambition which helped him to never give up on his company. The thing I least admire is the way he treated his employees. This is an issue many people face when they think that they’re more successful than everyone else, but in this case, I believe that it was because Steve Jobs was in his own bubble of himself and his company that it made his lose sight of somethings that matter in life. Steve Jobs did face many obstacles in his life when the Mac board removed Steve Jobs from the head of the Mac Division. This obviously impacted Jobs in many ways since he had founded the company. He was later asked to come back when Apple bought a company called NeXT. He learned many things during his break with Apple and came back to the company better than ever.
2. Despite his personal and work problems, Jobs was able to make Apple a successful company. His competency as head of Apple was undeniably amazing. He knew how to invest, strategize, and think quick on his feet. He had the gift of creating and planning tools for the next decade. It’s unlike anything anyone has ever seen.
3. One part in the book that confused me was where the author talks about “ignore reality” where Steve Jobs would often give false advertisement saying that anything was possible when many people thought it wasn’t. I wanted more clarity on this and why he did this.
4.
· In your opinion, if you hadn’t been fired from Apple the first time would you be the person you are today?
· With all the success and money the company has made, what do you believe your company will look like in 100 years?
I would like to ask these two questions because I want to know his character development and how he overcame that obstacle in his life along with how he perceives the success of his company in the future.
5. I think that Steve Job’s opinion of hard work was to never give up on your dreams and keep pushing even when the world seems to want you to fail. Every time he faced a difficulty, he never gave up his dream. I want to follow this because I believe never giving up is an essential part of being an entrepreneur and will be a good quality to have in anything you do in life.
Great post Laura. I read the biography on Steve Jobs as well. I had no idea he was fired from Apple earlier in his career, imagine what Apple would be like now if Steve Jobs never came back? I think it is amazing that he came back and made the company so successful. I enjoyed reading your post because we definitely agreed on most things, but we had a bit different perspectives about it.
